Pandemic Resolutions

Students discuss how they will still be going through with their New Year’s resolutions amidst a global pandemic

Lindsay Hemingway (11) –

How did COVID affect your New Year resolutions?

“COVID has affected my New Year’s resolutions in many ways. One of my resolutions was to work out every day and get into better shape but with the gyms how they are it’s hard to get in all the time because of how many people are allowed inside the building. I still try to either workout at home or get into the gym but COVID has affected that in a big way.”

What are some specific resolutions you made?

“Another resolution I had was to stay dedicated and motivated throughout school and throughout other things. In school, it is very difficult to stay motivated with this whole online thing and every day I wake up and try to just have a good breakfast and get ready for online school. I wish I could stay motivated through actual school learning but because of covid that can’t happen at the moment.”

How do you plan to go through with these resolutions?

“Although COVID is affecting my New Year’s resolutions I still want to figure out a way to accomplish it. Instead of working out at a gym, I’ll just go for runs or workout in my basement. Instead of thinking the worst with the online learning, I want to start getting up earlier and getting ready for my day and excited to learn something new!”

Sarah Phefferkorn (11 ) –

How did COVID affect your New Year resolutions?

“COVID has affected my New Years’ resolutions because mine was to work out more so it’s difficult doing cardio with a mask as I already hate doing it.”

What are some specific resolutions you made?

Nothing really specific, but just sticking to a workout routine that I started late last year.”

What do these goals mean to you?

“They’re meaningful to my health, and they’ve helped aid in my physical and mental health overall.”

Why did you choose these goals?

“ I chose them because after I had gotten COVID I felt really out of shape and had gained a little weight, I decided to try and better myself as I was lucky to have gone through covid as easily as I did, and didn’t want to take my health for granted anymore.”

How do you plan to go through with these resolutions?

I act like I’m 45 and actually have a whole schedule plan week by week on my laptop. I fill in the days I work and workloads of homework so I can find spaces in between to find time to workout and whatnot.”
