Castle View Student Media

About

CV Student Media is a collaboration among Castle View High School’s three journalism departments – The View newsmagazine, CVTV broadcast and The Vieo yearbook.

Our goal is to provide readers with a more complete experience by using a multi-media platform of print, video and photography to tell the school community’s stories. You’ll see stories accompanied by video clips, photos and photo slide shows, or stand-alone video stories along with stand-alone photos and slide shows.

Readers also can access stories and information through our Instagram (@CVStudentMedia) and Twitter (@CVStudentMedia). Every time a new story, slide show or video is posted, you will be notified by Twitter.

The View’s 15-member staff also publishes an award-winning newsmagazine four to five times a year. In addition to physical distribution, issues will also be posted digitally on this website. The View received an All-Colorado rating – the highest available – in the 5A division of the Colorado High School Press Association’s annual contest for the 2013-2014 school year. It also received a first-place rating from the prestigious Quill and Scroll, an international society of student journalism. Many of its staff members have also received top national and state awards for individual stories and photos. As of 2020, The View has continued to provide quality student news.

CVTV broadcast, in its first year, has 26 members who provide stand-alone video content as well as complimentary video to print stories. It also produces a weekly show about events and people that is broadcast throughout the school. The addition this year of CVTV elevates the multi-media presence of the school’s journalism programs.

The Vieo yearbook’s staff produces a nearly 300-page publication annually. From 2010-2014, the staff has compiled three All-Colorado ratings from the 5A division of the Colorado High School Press Association, two Gold Medalists ratings from the Colombia Scholastic Press Association, and two First Class ratings from the National Scholastic Press Association.
