Lining the walls of every pod, walked past every day on the first floor, lockers throughout the school are a mystery. What really is inside them? Are they even filled? How do students actually use their lockers?
Most underclassmen were assigned lockers with a single partner to last them a year. However, Trevor Wirkis ‘19 didn’t see the use in walking to his.
“I have a locker but I don’t use it. They put my locker in BHS where I never go and I don’t have classes there,” said Wirkis.
Backpacks were one alternative for students to carry all that they need for the day.
“I don’t have a locker. I don’t need one because I just keep everything in my backpack,” said Jared Wilkins ‘19.
Andryia Valore ‘18 thought differently on locker use. “It depends on the day, but mine is usually full of jackets and it’s pretty much just me by myself,” she said.
Other students who took harder classes used their lockers everyday. AP courses usually require heavy, bulky textbooks in addition to the normal binder or journal for notes.
“I have a locker and I usually bring a jacket just in case. My books are in there because I have classes near the locker and I just share it with one other person,” said Adrya Jaten ‘19.
Many upperclassmen and students who could drive used their athletic lockers or their cars to hold their things instead. “I’ve never needed a locker, I just put everything in my car,” said Trevor Brown ‘16.
Because of a physical education class. Skyla Edwards ‘17 uses her locker in the athletic hall. “I don’t know what’s in my school locker anymore because I never use it. I mostly use my athletic locker for rock climbing,” she said.
The mystery still remains as to what students hide away in their lockers, but it seemed to be determined primarily by lifestyle.
