Wrestling is a big sport that we play here at Castle View but it doesn’t get the recognition it needs. Ryland East is a wrestler on the Junior Varsity team. CV student media interviewed him about wrestling and things about it. “Wrestling is really fun for me and the other guys. It is pretty challenging but we all enjoy it.” When asked about how much recognition that wrestling gets he said, “Not many people know too much about wrestling and about the team but we still do what we need to do and we still go to meets and have fun.”

The scoring system for wrestling is pretty basic. There are three, two-minute, periods and no rest between the periods. The wrestler with the most points at the end of the third period is declared the winner. If a wrestler pins his opponent before the end of the third period, the match is over and that wrestler wins.

Wrestling is a very intense, physically demanding sport that requires a lot of strength, endurance, and skill. Wrestling matches will leave most people feeling hyped and excited for their team. So although basketball may be stealing the show, go to some wrestling matches to show some support and school spirit.
