With everyone in the holiday spirit, on December 8th, Castle View High School had its first ever “silent night” game and added a little accessory: ugly Christmas sweaters. As the boys basketball program played Doherty High School, the stands were filled, but oddly quiet. As soon as CV had scored ten points though, the silence was no longer. The fans were rooting on our players while in the Christmas spirit. Here’s what a few students had to say about it.
“I thought it was fun, and it was really funny to see the Christmas sweaters. I wasn’t really paying attention so I didn’t get to go crazy when the boys got to ten,” said Lauren Beauchamp ‘17.
“Overall I think the silent night idea is super cool, but it was kinda hard because the parents didn’t know about it so they were still cheering,” said Alexia Salley ‘19. “I think if we get the parents to do it along with us, it could be awesome.”
Some students missed the theme part of the game but were still able to witness some action.
“I came a little late so I didn’t get to see the silent night part, but I loved seeing the ugly Christmas sweaters. Some of them were so funny, I couldn’t help but laugh,” said Conner Culkin ‘18.
It was definitely a tradition worth repeating.
“I thought it was really fun and the ugly sweaters topped it off,” said Lauren Jung ‘18. “I would say we should definitely have a silent night game again.”
