The SAT for this year’s juniors at Castle View was a bit different than what other juniors used to do when they took the SAT, this year, it’s online.
Years past the SAT had always been done on paper so this year to be online was a big switch. Like everything, there were some pros and cons. Some of the pros of taking the SAT online now is that the setup time at the start is way quicker and more efficient and the test itself seemed easier to take as in the questions were more formed for the individual than the whole class like past years asking the same questions to all of the kids. But just like the pros, there will be cons. Since the test was more formed to the individual students this year, the experience was varied. For some kids, the first part of the English section was harder and when they got to the second section and it was all of sudden way easier. The adjustment made kids think they failed the first part so the test had to be dumbed down.
“I thought I screwed up once it got easier,” said Teagan Levering. This was not the case however because it was vice versa for other students, where the first part was easier and the second part is harder, this was also the same for the math section. “The test was definitely more easier and less threatening than I thought it would be since it was online this year compared to what I did for the PSAT for the previous year on paper,” said Daniel Espinoza.
The test seemed like it was going to be scarier than it actually was, is that due to it being online, maybe the questions were easier to answer.
Maybe the kids just got smarter? I guess we won’t know till we get the test results back.
