The #9 Castle View Sabercats, now with a 8-3 record after defeating #24 Fossil Ridge, 35-16, on November 3rd, is now set to play #8 Mountain Vista on November 10th 2023 at Halftime Help Stadium.
For Mountain Vista this is their first game in the playoffs because their first week was a bye week. It will also be a closer game due to Mountain Vista being just one seed better than Castle View.
This week we asked Coach Steffin about what the challenges would be with Mountain Vista being seed better than us unlike the 24 seed we had before, “Well the I mean regardless of the seed it’s it’s a familiar opponent it’s one that I mean we had the game I mean this last one where he came through I say after there’s another thing we learned it’s we weren’t consistently great throughout the throughout the day but we got the big plays where we needed to and the critical moments where we needed to make plays we did in the first game against Vista.”
Also along with that Last week coach Steffin said on the comment of injuries “As far as the offensive tackle, we’ve had to cycle through a few of them, mostly because of injuries, and then also for us, it’s trying to figure out once you start getting down, like past your second, third, and fourth guys, it’s now trying to just really get a broad canvas of just like who are just the best fits that we can feasibly put in there on short notice.“
Coach Steffen also said this on the comment of injuries for the other teams they will face “I mean, we’re playing an opponent that’s been, by the looks of it, dealing with plenty of injuries themselves too, so. Part of the time you get to the playoffs is obviously by the time who has the better, more talented teams, but a lot of it can simply be decided by who’s just healthier.”
