Madness within the Madness
March Madness’ biggest upsets and highest prospects
March Madness is a big event, “an audience of 7.6 million viewers consuming the games across TBS, truTV, NCAA March Madness Live and TV Everywhere platforms” said the official NCAA website. These viewers are all expecting crazy games, insane dunks, buzzer beaters, and their chosen teams to win.
With the Sweet 16 done and the Elite 8 out of the way, the final four have been determined, a lot of upsets have happened. Junior Brody Wilson is an avid watcher of the tournament and was rooting for the underdogs.
“I love pulling for underdog teams in March Madness, I wasn’t a crazy big fan of Ohio State. Kevin Obanor and Max Abmas went off for Oral Roberts combining 59 points between the two, which made that game one of the best in the tournament so far. ” Brody Wilson said.
Oral Roberts won against Ohio State and Florida, just to then get knocked out of the whole deal by Arkansas. This wasn’t expected by most bracket makers, breaking a lot of them in the process. This created tons of broken brackets and highlight reels.
UCLA played a game against Alabama, the number 2 seed. This game was in favor of Alabama, and their defeat was nothing to scoff at.
“Being a huge UCLA fan knowing how far they had come, it had only felt right that they were gonna make that a great game. Johnny Juzang popped off at the start of the game scoring most of UCLA’s points in the first half. Watching Alabama hit the game-tying shot at the end was very nerve-wracking but I was still confident that UCLA was gonna win that game in overtime,” Wilson said.
Another notable upset was UCLA against Alabama. Alabama’s defeat was unpredicted, and UCLA rose up against the odds to defeat them. UCLA won by 10 points, with a lead all throughout the game. These crazy upsets were unexpected, but perhaps one of the most impressive runs was Gonzaga, undefeated in the regular season and March Madness.
“I do believe Gonzaga is a good team although their schedule during the regular season seems to be very easy, coming in with the number one seed gives them lots of confidence and priority over the tournament but I do think UCLA can make the final four-game between UCLA and Gonzaga a very surprising good game,” Wilson said.
The Gonzaga and UCLA game is going to be exciting, and a clash between these two powerhouses should be good!
