Rivalry week was off to a great start with a win from your JV and Varsity Sabercat volleyball girls. While the Freshmen and Sophomore teams lost to their DC opponents, JV pulled off a win in two sets, and Varsity held their composure, beating DC in an easy three sets. While there were mistakes here and there, the girls stayed composed and focused amongst the chaos.
The energy was high, and the student section was the biggest of the season. “The students were incredible,” said Emily Pofahl ‘16. “We had cheers for everything and we did them so loud, you could tell DC didn’t know what to chant. The Castle View Fight song definitely caught them off guard; the unity and loudness of the students couldn’t have been better.”
With the big game on the line, it is expected that some players would be nervous.
“I was a little anxious and and afraid because I didn’t want to let the crowd down. With that many people watching, you want them to be impressed,” said Kate Menz ’18.
After the Sabercats took the Huskies in the 3rd set, the crowd went wild. The student section started celebrating with the Castle View fight song, followed by the “Do It” cheer. This marked the fifth year in a row that the Castle View volleyball team beat the Huskies, and the hopes remained high to continue that streak in 2016.
