During an interesting battle of the grades, it was the seniors and sophomores that took all the winnings. The crushing victory of the seniors was devastating for the juniors, due to their two year winning streak.
“I think it went amazing. It was fun, it was fair, and it was a great tradition to continue,” said sophomore Emily Meek.
With spirits high, showdown took off with the freshman’s cheer, it fell short of the sophomores who claimed victory in the end.
The trash cans were next, the sophomores claimed victory with a mystical smoking Mayan calendar inspired trash can. In the next round seniors won destroying juniors in the trash can competition. Seniors marched their chariot style trash can in with a parade of greek goddesses.
The three legged race was tense with a roaring crowd after the juniors legs detached mid-race causing them to be disqualified.
During the most interesting competition, the teachers battled each other into a tie of two points. Leading into a sudden death game which lead to the freshmen and junior teachers claiming the victory.
Donations this year had a total amount of 1,459 ounces. The juniors and sophomores contributing the most.
“I think the outcome was great,” said Meek. “I was disappointed at some of the events we lost but that’s to be expected.”
During the dance the juniors’ amazing choreography skills left all the other classes cheering for more.
Tug of War was the losing battle because it costed the juniors their two year streak. Sophomores won for both girls and boys causing a loss for the juniors.
As the winners were being announced the gym fell silent with anticipation. The final score was in favor for the seniors with 161 points. Beating the by three points. The final score for the sophomores was 164 and the freshman finished at 148. Even though the juniors suffered after their first defeat, spirits were still high.
“It’s kind of upsetting but it okay we’ll just get them next year,” said junior Brenna Noel.
