Thor: Ragnarok Review

Today I will be reviewing ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. I would like to start this review with saying that I was heavily anticipating this release and that it has most certainly exceeded my already high expectations. This is the third film in the Thor franchise, which is also part of an even bigger film franchise (the Marvel Cinematic Universe [MCU for short]).

This was hands down the best Thor film and definitely one of the best in the entire MCU! I was so amazed by the brilliant direction by newcomer to the Marvel Universe, director Taika Waititi. After seeing some of his previous work you could really tell that he brought some of his silly/witty charm to this already well known and established character. His comedy chops spread throughout the movie so much. It was a nonstop laugh riot. It was one of, if not the, funniest Marvel film to date.

Another great aspect of this film was its incredible visual style. The set design was so bizarre and colorful that it just worked. Especially in the new planet where most of the film takes place, the scenery is just breathtaking. All the performances in the film were incredible, as is the norm for all the MCU movies. I was especially pleased with Jeff Goldblum’s performance as the wacky Grandmaster. As usual he brought all the strange and crazy to this performance as he would any other. This was Chris Hemsworth best portrayal as Thor so far, bringing both the fun, action-packed side as well as the more serious side to this role.

Speaking of the action, this was insane! Seriously, I’m so amazed by the amount of style this movie took with it’s action. Overall I am highly pleased with this film and can’t wait to see it again! Would highly recommend it to anyone who loves marvel films, or just looking 2 hours to kick back and have some fun.
