Parking Lot Struggle –
Overcrowding at Castle View High School has caused reckless driving and morning mayhem in order to find a parking spot.
“It’s scary because some people just don’t care. You can have the right of way, but people are just so focused on their end goal that they almost hit you,” said class Vice President Emily Stone. “I’ve almost been hit multiple times.”
As the class size increases with every incoming class, parking spots have become scarce. The lack of space causes students to get worried.
“I’m not sure what the school is going to do when there are more drivers than there are parking spaces,” said Stone.
Many students this year are not pleased with how the parking lot is being run. On the rush to school every morning, finding a parking spot is troublesome.
“It can take 5 to 10 minutes to find a spot,” said Senior Carolyn Chavez.
Some students in a hurry may not pay attention to their surroundings and risk collisions with other students and commuting parents picking up their children.
Some students believe that paying a higher price for a personal parking spot would be beneficial.
“It would be cool to have your own parking space that you could decorate or something; personalize it,” said Stone.
Not everyone agrees with Stone. “I don’t think it’s necessary to have a personal parking spot because not many [students] have enough money at the moment,” said Chavez.
While walking through the halls or the parking lot, there is murmur of individuals complaining about the parking lot. A large portion of the students that drive think improvements need to be made to the parking lot.
