The April 17 snow day caught most of Castle View’s students off guard, considering Douglas County School District’s last snow day was three years ago.
A 90-minute delay. Quickly, the DCSD weather trackers decided it was time to call a snow day. But, not all students believed the spring miracle.
“I didn’t believe anyone,” junior Isabell Castillo said, “so I called the school to make sure.”
Jonathan Estrada, a senior, said he walked all the way to school and then turned around and went back home.
Many students said they enjoyed the day off.
Junior Sarah Ryland stayed home and watched TV. Castillo watched “The Office” on Netflix in her bed.
But for sophomore Emely Cruz, the snow day was a “waste of time. I had to get back onto the bus. Then, our bus broke down.”
