With two nationally ranked wrestlers on the team, the Castle View Wrestling program has had a very successful season. Malik Heinselman ’18 and Tate Samuelson ‘18 are both currently ranked number one in the state of Colorado at the Varsity level in the 5A division.
Heinselman has a high school record of 36-1, has won the Cadet World Trials and Cadet Nationals, and has competed in Bosnia for the Cadet World Team. All of these accomplishments have ranked him 15th in the entire country.
Samuelson, was Cadet All American and has won many tournaments with a high school record of 35-4. He is now ranked 14th in his weight class of all 9th and 10th graders in the nation.
Both athletes will be competing to become 5A state champions on February 18-20 at the Pepsi Center.
The Castle View wrestling team finished top 6 at three regional tournaments and placed third at the Northglenn Invitational this year. “The future looks bright for this team, especially considering how well they’ve performed against teams comprised mostly of upper classmen,” Said Coach Anderson. The team hopes to qualify 6-8 wrestlers to compete at the state wrestling tournament.
