It’s that time of year again where the Castle View boys wrestling team takes on the school rival, Douglas County. The match was held in the Castle View Home gym on February 4th, and ended with an impressive win by CV. The bleachers were bustling and the mat was lit. Designated chairs were hauled out and placed at both ends of the mat, and the wrestlers were welcomed with enthusiasm from the crowd. The first wrestler stepped on the mat and the crowd hushed as he faced the rival DC wrestler.
Jason Dallman ‘16 was first and put up a good fight. The team won by four points and cheered after their victory. Wrestler Malik Heinselman ‘18 is one of the best youth wrestlers in the state and, for this reason, Douglas County forfeited their opposing player. “Whoever gets the most points wins by taking down, escaping, and pinning. I choose to start down when the ref flips a coin in a match,” said Heinselman.
There were 8 players who wrestled that night and pulled the team through for a win. All in all, it was a huge success and an important win for the team.
